SUMMARY:In-Person Scientific Computing with R Workshop at Medical Campus 6/23-24
DESCRIPTION:SoftwareCarpentry.org’s Scientific Computing training courses help researchers get their work done in less time and with less pain by teaching them basic research computing skills. This hands-on Scientific Computing with R workshop will cover basic concepts and tools\, including program design\, version control\, data management\, and task automation. \n \nParticipants will be encouraged to help one another and to apply what they have learned to their own research problems. For more information on what we teach and why\, please see our paper “Best Practices for Scientific Computing“. \nThursday + Friday 6/23-24 | 9:00 AM – 4:30 PM Course Hours\, Both Days \nRegister Now | Syllabus  | Pre-workshop Survey\n \nWho The course is aimed at graduate students and other researchers.\nYou don’t need to have any previous knowledge of the tools that will be presented at the workshop. \n \nWhere This training will take place in-person at the University of Miami Medical Campus\, Don Soffer CRC Building\, 7th Floor CTSI Research Training Center (Room)\,1120 NW 14th Street\, Miami FL 33136.  (Map | Directions) \nWhen June 23-24\, 2022  |  9:00 AM to 4:30 PM  Add to your Google Calendar. \n    \nInstructors\n\nPaul Clough MSLIS\, Digital Architect and Infrastructure Librarian\, U Miami Libraries\nTim Norris PhD\, Data Scientist\, U Miami Libraries | UM Institute for Data Science and Computing\nGabriel Odom PhD\, Assistant Professor\, Chen Lab\, Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center\, UM Miller School of Medicine\nCameron Riopelle PhD\, Head\, Data & Visualization Services\, U Miami Libraries\n\nRequirements Participants must bring a laptop with a Mac\, Linux\, or Windows operating system (not a tablet\, Chromebook\, etc.) that they have administrative privileges on.
