A Partner in <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.designamb.com\/\">AMB Architectural Design Studio,<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0<strong>LLC<\/strong> in Rockville, Maryland, Dabic is a LEED accredited professional (AP) who has designed a chain of healthcare facilities across the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Germany. He has also led the design and renovation projects of the Embassy of Macedonia, and the Embassy of Bosnia and Herzegovina in United States.<span id=\"more-35699\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Our Visiting Fellows program is designed for academic and industry professionals who want to contribute to their fields through collaborations with our data scientists,&#8221; said <strong>Nick Tsinoremas<\/strong>, PhD, IDSC Founding Director, Vice Provost for Research Computing and Data, and Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Computer Science, and Health Informatics.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Dabic\u2019s research at IDSC will focus on combining architectural innovation with digital health solutions in the context of smart cities. &#8220;Using smart buildings as a core, he is developing a conceptual model that will maximize coordination of smart city functions in the area of energy and home health services,&#8221; said <strong>Yelena Yesha<\/strong>, PhD, Distinguished Professor and Chief Innovation Officer, IDSC. In collaboration with other IDSC colleagues, Dr. Dabic will contribute his architectural engineering expertise toward achieving the vision of <a href=\"https:\/\/welcome.miami.edu\/\"><strong>University of Miami&#8217;s<\/strong><\/a> leadership in the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/idsc.miami.edu\/research\/smart-cities\/\">Smart Cities program<\/a><\/strong>, Yesha added. He will also build IDSC\u2019s international collaborations through partnerships with international academic institutions and private industry.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-551\" src=\"https:\/\/idsc.miami.edu\/magazine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/Hartley-LeRoy-circle.jpg\" alt=\"Hartley LeRoy, IDSC Visiting Fellow\" width=\"240\" height=\"240\" srcset=\"https:\/\/idsc.miami.edu\/magazine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/Hartley-LeRoy-circle.jpg 240w, https:\/\/idsc.miami.edu\/magazine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/Hartley-LeRoy-circle-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/idsc.miami.edu\/magazine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/Hartley-LeRoy-circle-60x60.jpg 60w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 240px) 100vw, 240px\" \/>Hartley LeRoy<\/h3>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/ece.ncsu.edu\/2020\/05\/masters-student-gives-back-by-making-ppe-for-healthcare-workers\/\">Hartley LeRoy<\/a>,<\/strong> a North Carolina digital healthcare entrepreneur will focus on developing new solutions as a Visiting Fellow at the University of Miami Institute for Data Science and Computing (IDSC). &#8220;We welcome Hartley to our Visiting Fellows program, which opens the door to collaborations with our data scientists,&#8221; said Nick Tsinoremas, PhD, IDSC Founding Director, Vice Provost for Research Computing and Data, and Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Computer Science, and Health Informatics.<\/p>\n<p>As an IDSC Visiting Fellow, Mr. LeRoy will work closely with <strong>Yelena Yesha<\/strong>, PhD, IDSC Chief Innovation Officer, in developing blockchain solutions for the Internet of Medical Things (IoMT). He is also assisting the <strong>U.S. Food and Drug Administration (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.fda.gov\/home\">FDA<\/a>)<\/strong> with the development of publications on coordinated registry networks.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. LeRoy earned a Master&#8217;s degree in Electrical Engineering specializing in computational intelligence and computer vision from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncsu.edu\/\"><strong>North Carolina State University<\/strong><\/a> in May 2020. While a student at NCSU, he co-founded <a href=\"https:\/\/portaltech.io\/\"><strong>Portal Technologies<\/strong><\/a>, which developed a vending machine that utilizes computer vision to serve customers, using an inference model to identify products. He also raised funding and received a fellowship from NCSU to continue work on the venture.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. LeRoy also was the co-founder of <a href=\"https:\/\/hypepotamus.com\/companies\/trashr\/\"><strong>TRASHR<\/strong><\/a>, which created an Internet of Things (IoT) system to optimize trash pick-up routes on the NCSU campus.
