The annual Smart Cities Miami Conference is an extension of these efforts, providing a forum for leaders in academia, industry, and government to closely examine evolving theories and practices in the Smart City field. The topics considered vary in scope and nature within a general theme that is particularly relevant for each year.<\/p>\n<p>The theme for the 2022 edition is\u00a0<strong>Virtualization\u2014Virtual Reality and Metaverse<\/strong>\u00a0focusing on\u00a0technology and innovation in the post-pandemic city, providing opportunities to explore questions such as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>How the pandemic intensified smart city infrastructure and practices.<\/li>\n<li>How the pandemic response accelerated the adoption of automation and robotics.<\/li>\n<li>Will work-at-home and decentralization be lasting consequences of the pandemic, given the leap in tele-presence and conferencing technology?<\/li>\n<li>How the pandemic renewed the interest and investment in Virtual Reality.
