David Chapman<\/h3>\n
David R. Chapman, PhD, comes to IDSC from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC). David’s appointment is in the Department of Computer Science, where he\u2019ll be teaching classes and doing research, but he\u2019s already working with the Miller School of Medicine<\/a> and planning to work with experts in other schools. Read his profile in this issue<\/strong>: Meet the Scientist Fast-Tracking Improvements in Digital Image Diagnostic<\/span>s<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Jia \u201cJamie\u201d Deng\u2019s career began as a CPA\/Analyst after graduating from the University of Auckland in New Zealand in 2003 with a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Finance and International Business. Jamie worked for some time in Shenzhen before returning to the University of Auckland to receive a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science with Honors in 2019.\u00a0 After moving to California in 2019, Jamie attended the University of California at Santa Cruz and received a Master of Science in Computer Science in 2020. Currently a PhD student at UM, Jamie is working on NLP (natural language processing) and computer vision with the IDSC AI and Machine Learning team under Dr. Yelena Yesha.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Dr. Yusen Wu is an Assistant Scientist at the University of Miami Institute for Data Science and Computing. He received his PhD in Computer Science Department from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County\u00a0in 2022.
