About the XR Initiative

The XR Initiative serves as an interdisciplinary community of faculty, researchers, students, and staff who have a common interest in using XR (augmented, virtual, and mixed reality) technologies to pursue innovative solutions in their field. We are currently active in the fields of architecture, health care, sustainability, climate change, art history, behavioral research, human-computer interfaces, UI/UX, new media, and narrative/storytelling research.

The XR Initiative has established a strong presence across campus in collaborations with the Institute for Data Science and Computing, The Gordon Center for Research in Medical Education, UM Libraries, and the Lowe Art Museum. Faculty members and students from all the colleges and schools are part of the Initiative.
