Maurice Jenkins

As the Chief Information Officer (CIO)/Director of Information Systems for the Aviation Department at Miami International Airport, he spearheaded the development and implementation of standards-based policies and procedures, significantly enhancing the quality of service of enterprise IT systems. His visionary leadership played a crucial role in the successful integration of cutting-edge technology in the opening of the new South and North Terminals.

His notable achievements include the implementation of Biometrics, Virtual Queuing, and other innovative technologies, showcasing his technical acumen and dedication to serving the residents of Miami-Dade County. Before assuming his role as Airport CIO, Mr. Jenkins played a pivotal role in defining and managing IT capital assets and processes, ensuring their seamless implementation and project integration.

A proud UM alumnus with a bachelor’s degree in Business and Computer Information Systems, Mr. Jenkins has continued his pursuit of excellence through certifications in Strategic Management from Florida International University and Human Resources Management from Nova Southeastern.

His commitment to industry standards is evident through his role as the Chairman of the Business Information Technology Committee (BIT) established by the Airports Council International (ACI), setting strategic objectives for the future technology direction of airports. Additionally, Mr. Jenkins served as Chairman of the Florida Airports Council’s IT Committee from February 2019 to December 2021.

Another of Mr. Jenkins’s notable contributions includes the implementation of an area-wide marketing information service to hotels and convention centers, utilizing current flight information data from Miami International Airport. His adherence to AAAE and ACI best practices reflects his unwavering dedication to providing the highest level of service. His expertise has been widely recognized as he has presented implementation solutions to key IT leaders at airport IT conferences in the U.S., and internationally, sharing his successful practices with his peer group.

IDSC is honored to have Mr. Maurice Jenkins as a valuable addition to the Industry Advisory Board. His wealth of experience and visionary leadership will undoubtedly contribute to the Institute’s mission of advancing data science and computing. Mr. Jenkins commented “I am thrilled to join the IDSC Industry Advisory Board. As an alumnus and a member of the University’s first championship football team, I am deeply connected to this institution. I look forward to leveraging my experience to contribute to the Institute’s mission and support the next generation of leaders in data science and computing.”

Eduardo "Eddy" Vadia

IDSC also warmly welcomes Dr. Eduardo “Eddy” Vadia. A prominent figure in medicine and healthcare innovation, Dr. Vadia brings a wealth of experience and a passion for advancing the intersection of data science and healthcare.

A graduate of the Miller School of Medicine in 2006, he expressed his enthusiasm for joining the advisory board, saying, “The University of Miami holds a special place in my heart. It’s where my journey in medicine began, and I am thrilled to contribute to its growth and impact through IDSC. My long-term relationship with the University has been instrumental in shaping my career, and I am eager to support the Institute’s community outreach and partnerships.”

A distinguished academic, Dr. Vadia completed his Internal Residency, Chief Medical Residency, and Pulmonary and Critical Care Fellowship at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, TX. His tenure (until April 2019) as a faculty physician at UT Southwestern focused on medical education, particularly in the Parkland Hospital ICU. Board certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Medicine, and Critical Care Medicine, Dr. Vadia co-founded Access Physicians during his fellowship, a venture that became the second-largest inpatient telemedicine group in the country. “Scaling clinical excellence” was the core mission, and under Dr. Vadia’s leadership, Access Physicians managed over 200 hospital deployments across 30 states, securing enterprise agreements with major health and hospital systems before being acquired by SOC Telemed in March 2021.

Now back in Miami, Dr. Vadia is committed to high-impact innovation as an investor and founder. His dedication to the University and his eagerness to contribute to the IDSC’s community outreach and partnerships make him an invaluable addition to the Board. “We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Vadia His extensive background in healthcare innovation and telemedicine, coupled with his passion for the University of Miami, will undoubtedly enhance our efforts in advancing data science and computing applications in the medical field,” said Justin Gammage, Director of Partnerships at IDSC.
