Miami Day of Civic Hacking focuses on Urban Resilience

CCS is excited to be participating in Code for Miami’s National Day of Civic Hacking. Join us on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at the Miami – Cambridge Innovation Center , located at the Converge Miami building (formerly University of Miami Life Science and Technology Park), 1951 NW 7th Avenue, Suite 600, Miami, FL 33136.

National Day of Civic ‘Hacking’ is an annual international event centered on promoting open data initiatives and locals hacking ways to help improve their community. Thousands of people from around the world will tackle challenges using datasets central to their environment, government, public services, and other civic-oriented topics.

Here in Miami the focus is on how our City can stay resilient beyond the face of natural disasters like Hurricane Irma. Participants will work on projects that help Miami and its most vulnerable populations be better prepared and connected. This event brings together urbanists, civic hackers, government staff, developers, designers, community organizers, and anyone with the passion to make our City better.

This year’s theme is “Innovation in Emergency Preparedness & Urban Resilience”.  Challenge topics will include:

  • Equity in South Florida
  • Access to Data
  • Citizen Engagement
  • Transportation
  • Health & Human Services
