Visualization Laboratory

The Visualization Lab is a free resource to the UM community. Capable of accommodating 14 people, it’s is an impressive space to host a class or your next meeting.

Located in the Arthur A. Ungar building (330D) with a direct connection to all UM computing resources, the Viz Lab is the perfect tool for high performance parallel visualization, data exploration, and other advanced simulations, and features a Mechdyne 3D-Display and a Cyviz 2D-Display:

3D Display

The Mechdyne 3D wall display includes:

  • 2 x 2 Tile Wall Display System:  Four (4) Planar Clarity Matrix 46″ 3D LCD
  • Video Processing:  2x 8-core/16-thread processors 3.3GHz, 2x NVIDIA Quadro K5200
  • Laptop Wired Connection Points:  Two wired laptop connections with dual-input scaler for HDMI or VGA
  • Surround Audio System
  • Apple iPad Control System

2-D Display

The Cyviz 2D 5 x 2  wall is a plug-and-play, user-friendly display comprised of:

  • 5 x 2 Planar Matrix 55” Ultra-thin panels
  • XPO4 Video Processor:  8 PiPs, Single Desktop, 9600 x 2160 resolution
  • 15” Touch Panel Display Controller with Enterprise Server
  • Audio System
