Human Centered Design and Computing

IDSC Human Centered Design and Computing encompasses Visualization and Creative Technologies.

Visualization

IDSC Visualization fulfills a key educational role—raising awareness about data science and its applications among the general public, using visual means.

Data Visualization is the graphical representation of information and data. By using visual elements like charts, graphs, and maps, Visualization provides an accessible way to see and understand trends, outliers, and patterns in data. Visualization also augments cognition to enable the exploration of complex data sets and the communication of scientific findings.

Creative Technologies

IDSC Creative Technologies explores a world of expressive possibilities using code and design to shape the world. This interdisciplinary field coalesces computing with other disciplines centering around the intersection of computing and research design in an interdisciplinary context. Both work on new technologies to assist in research and discovery and to help scientists in communicating their results to stakeholders and to the general public using multimodal media, from static infographics to interactive web presentations and other products that take advantage of technologies like augmented, mixed, and virtual reality.
