Supercomputing Taken to a New Level at UM
University of Miami researchers will have access to a new state-of-the-art IBM supercomputer that will facilitate faster and better data handling in important university research, such as genomics, climate change, physical oceanography, economic forecasting, and engineering. This system joins a “family” of supercomputers in UM’s advanced computing environment and will play an important role in the university’s ongoing unique tiered data storage system that prioritizes data for easier, more efficient access to help researchers find answers faster to some of the world’s toughest problems.
Here is a sneak peek, following this supercomputer from the warehouse where it was built to its arrival at the data center.
