Dr. Kenny Broad is an Associate Professor of Marine Affairs and Policy at UM’s Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science and is Director of the Leonard and Jayne Abess Center for Ecosystem Science and Policy. Dr. Neil F. Johnson heads a new interdisciplinary research group in Complexity in the Department of Physics at the University of Miami. The research focuses on collective behavior and emergent properties in a wide range of real-world Complex Systems: from the physical, biological, medical domains through to social and even financial domains.
John W. McManus, PhD is a Professor of Marine Biology and Fisheries, and Director of the National Center for Coral Reef Research (NCORE) at the Rosenstiel School of the University of Miami. In 2007, he chaired the Five-Year Review of the NOAA Coral Reef Conservation Program, which led to major changes in its structure and activities. As the former Leader of the Aquatic Environments Program of the WorldFish Center in Southeast Asia (formerly ICLARM), he was the founder of ReefBase: the Global Coral Reef Database, and the International Coral Reef Action Network (ICRAN).
Dr. Mitsunori Ogihara joined the University of Miami in 2007 as Professor in the Department of Computer Science and as Program Director of the Big Data Analytics & Data Mining Program within the Center for Computational Science. More recently, he was appointed Associate Dean for Digital Library Innovation in the College of Arts and Sciences.
Dr. Hilda M. Pantin, a Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, has had a distinguished career in her 20 years as a faculty member for the Division of Prevention Science and Community Health. She serves as the Executive Vice Chair of the Division of Epidemiology & Population Health Sciences and the Associate Director of the Prevention Division.
