Celebrating Black History Month: Data Scientist Theresa Johnson
In honor of Black History Month, IDSC is proud to recognize the positive message of inclusion and the work of Airbnb Data Scientist Theresa Johnson. Dr. Johnson is featured in this original she++ short film. Theresa shares how she uses her skills to promote diversity on Airbnb’s platform, and what it’s like to be a minority in tech. Many thanks to Airbnb and Theresa Johnson.
Founded in January 2012, she++ was Stanford University’s first conference on women in technology.
In April 2012, they hosted a lineup of inspirational women in tech—from companies such as Google, Facebook, Dropbox, and Pinterest, among others—and 250+ attendees on Stanford’s campus. After positive feedback from attendees, mentors, and the press, they decided to expand she++ into a full-fledged community that inspires women to empower computer science. Through a number of initiatives, she++ aims to create community and momentum for female technologists.
