Dr. Hilda M. Pantin, a Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, has had a distinguished career in her 20 years as a faculty member for the Division of Prevention Science and Community Health. She serves as the Executive Vice Chair of the Division of Epidemiology & Population Health Sciences and the Associate Director of the Prevention Division.

Dr. Biju Issac earned his Masters and Bachelors of Science degree from Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam, India. He later received his PhD from Jawaharlal Nehru University, India in 2005. Since then, he has gained extensive experience in bioinformatics analysis of Microarrays and Next-Generation sequencing analysis.

Dr. Zhijie Jiang received his PhD in Evolutionary Biology from Louisiana State University in 2006, and then spent one year working on genome annotation projects at Scripps, Florida (The Scripps Research Institute). His main projects at CCS can be divided into two categories: The first is genome assembling using next generation sequencing (NGS) data and genome annotation, his expertise includes both prokaryotic and eukaryotic genomes, run on two different NGS platforms; the second focus is gene expression analysis, working with microarray data as well as NGS data. This latter focus allows him to maintain an active interest in gene regulatory networks and promoter prediction.

Hemalatha Raju is a PhD student in Human Genetics and Genomics at the University of Miami. She received her BS in Physics and a master in Biophysics from the University of Chennai, India.

Camilo gained two B.S. degrees in Biology and in Computer Science from Florida International University, and is currently enrolled in a Master’s program in Bioinformatics at FIU. He is a senior analyst for gene expression analysis from microarray datasets. He has experience with several microarray platforms and has worked with data from different species. His expertise includes performing differential expression analyses of regulated genes using various analysis algorithms, along with pathways analysis and gene-set enrichment analysis. Camilo is also a software architect and is the lead developer for the iBIS portal and other bioinformatics tools.

Dr. Benjamin Kirtman is the program director for the physical science and engineering at the Center for computational science. He is also a Professor in the Division of Meteorology and Physical Oceanography at the University of Miami’s Rosenstiel School for Marine and Atmospheric Science (RSMAS), where he also serves as the Associate Dean for Research. Prior to joining the University of Miami, Dr. Kirtman was a Professor at George Mason University.

Dr. Stephan C. Schürer joined the Center for Computational Science in October 2008 leading the cheminformatics (Computational Chemistry) program. He is Research Assistant Professor at the Department of Molecular and Cellular Pharmacology at the Miller School of Medicine and Adjunct Assistant Professor at the Department of Molecular Therapeutics at the Scripps Research Institute in Florida.

Dr. Qiong Cheng joined the University of Miami’s Center for Computational Science in February 2014. Dr. Cheng graduated from Georgia State University in December 2009 with a PhD in Computer Science. Upon graduating, She spent a little over a year training in CCS and then began work as a researcher with the Department of Computer Science at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign.

Bryce Allen is a PhD student in the Department of Molecular & Cellular Pharmacology at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. Bryce received his Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences from Virginia Tech in 2013 with a minor in Interdisciplinary Engineering & Science. His interests include Polypharmacology, Computational Chemistry, and Drug Discovery.

Dr. Dušica Vidović joined the Chemoinformatics team at CCS in September 2008. Before she joined, she was a Research Associate at The Scripps Research Institute and The Computer-Chemistry Centrum in the field of chemoinformatics.
