Many of the current developments in Precision Oncology refer to the major role played by data. Big data resources (DB, repositories, biobanks, etc.) and novel data types combine in integrative experimental research settings presenting a variety of complexities. These require nextgen computational tools to be derived from the emerging data science field.

Dr. Enrico Capobianco will overview these topics, and then focus on a couple of examples from recent studies. One of them is centered on primary melanoma, and explores the wide-spectrum transcriptome landscape obtained from RNA-Seq run over a large collection of samples. Another study refers to osteosarcoma and proposes a multitype network inference approach as a viable translational science strategy.
