TRITON Takes a Bow

On Thursday, September 19, 2019, IDSC held a reception to launch “TRITON”, a $3.7M machine that is now accessible to University of Miami students, faculty, and staff. The celebrated a collaboration with all those who worked hard to make it possible—from Procurement, to UMIT, to IBM and IDSC Advanced Computing technicians—everyone’s efforts came together to get the new supercomputer installed and up and running. 2-day Python Workshop 11/11-12/2019 Medical Campus

Trained instructors lead a comprehensive, hands-on overview of an introductory data analysis using Python, covering topics like data types, functions, conditional statements, loops, errors and exceptions, debugging, and some key Python libraries and writing Python programs that will work like Linux command-line tools. This workshop is designed to provide a foundation of basic concepts that all programming depends on, using Python as an example. TRITON Supercomputer Launch Celebration 9/19/2019

You are invited to celebrate the launch of TRITON, the University of Miami’s new supercomputer. Using the same AI-optimized architecture as the world’s most powerful supercomputers, Triton is UM’s first GPU-accelerated HPC/AI system, representing a new approach to computational and data science. Triton was designed to process vast amounts of data in near real time by accelerating data transfer between the IBM POWER9 CPU and attached accelerators, enabling students, researchers, and data scientists to explore new possibilities. Overview of New TRITON AI-Ready System 9/20/2019

This session will provide an overview of the University’s data-driven Advanced Computing Systems design as well as the design of the new AI-ready system, TRITON, which supports the biomedical architecture. The Biomedical Informatics architecture at UM currently supports nearly 7 PB of biomedical research data and numerous projects including EHR data from three Health Care partner organizations. The Advanced Computing Team offers office assistance with usage issues on the new TRITON supercomputer and/or the Pegasus cluster. During office hours, the team can provide assistance with queuing inquiries, software installation, and technical troubleshooting. The team is ready to answer questions regarding grant proposals, and can provide resource information about the Advanced Computing environment.
