The SingularityU Miami Chapter wraps its three-part online/Zoom artificial intelligence series with two seasoned experts: Philip Evans, Senior Advisor and Fellow at Boston Consulting Group (BCG), and Roy Lowrance, Founder and CEO of Applied Data Science, LLC. Philip Evans is a former Senior Partner with BCG. He founded both BCG’s Media and Internet practices and was the first-elected BCG Fellow. He focuses on strategy in the context of disruptive information technologies. He was educated at Cambridge, where he graduated #1 in Economics, was a Harkness Fellow at Harvard, and also has a Harvard MBA. He is a former Director of the Oxford Internet Institute (OII).
He is author of many publications, and won a McKinsey Prize, for the best contribution to the Harvard Business Review. His book Blown to Bits was a global best-seller. His TED Talk “How data will transform business” has garnered over 1,700,000 views.
He was designated by Walter Kiechel as one of the 15 “Lords of Strategy” in his book of that title.
Roy Lowrance has over 20 years of data scientist experience working in media, finance, human resources, and education. He established the data science pedagogy at NYU, Colombia, and the University of Miami. Lowrance has a PhD in Computer Science from NYU focused on machine learning for time series with concept drift. Dr. Lowrance is Founder and CEO of Applied Data Science, LLC in New York, Chief Data Scientist at Autonomous Professional Development, and serves as the Chairman of the Industry Advisory Board for the University of Miami Institute for Data Science and Computing (IDSC).
