Alberto Cairo LIVE at Frost Science Planetarium 1/17 on…
Data visualization—the use of charts and maps to display numbers—is all around us. Learning to be a savvy data “consumer” is an art. The good news is that anyone and everyone can learn! It’s an important skill: Data visualizations can convey important trends and findings; they can also be manipulated to obscure the true meaning of data as well.
In this January edition of LIVE@Frost Science on Wednesday, January 17, Dr. Alberto Cairo, Knight Chair in Visual Journalism at the School of Communication of the University of Miami and IDSC Director of Visualization, will present “How to Actually Read Charts and Maps Like a Pro.” During this free event, Dr. Cairo will walk you through how to hone your critical eye for data visualization, and how to read commonly misused or misunderstood visualizations, like hurricane maps, properly. Read more about Dr. Cairo (scroll down below the feature of his latest book “The Art of Insight”).
Admission is complimentary (donations to the Museum are appreciated but not required). Tickets are limited to four per transaction. The program will take place inside the Frost Planetarium.
