At the crossroads of visual storytelling, entertainment and new immersive technology, this one-of-a-kind international event invites all curious and tech-savvy audiences to explore the best mind-bending stories in interactive and immersive storytelling. Join us at the University of Miami Lakeside Village on the Coral Gables campus 11/30-12/2, the full Festival runs 11/29-12/3 at multiple locations.

FilmGate Interactive Media Festival 10 explores how emerging technology empowers the content of the future. The Festival redefines the way we conceive and share stories, together, democratically and inclusively, representing the diverse voices of our extended region. The Festival will celebrate visual storytellers and supporting industries through screenings, exhibits, creative labs, master classes, immersive art installations, music, and live events.

The 2023 Festival partners with the University of Miami’s “UM XR Day.” Audiences and creators will be invited to attend virtually and in person. The programming is focused on outdoor, accessible installations, as well as the most impactful interactive and immersive projects from around the world. As we approach a united virtual space at increasing rate, aka “the metaverse,” FilmGate will explore the multiverses and 3D spaces that are paving the roads to the future.

For its 10th anniversary, FilmGate Interactive reinvents itself as FILMGATE INTERACTIVE X. The festival seeks to not only mirror the world’s recuperative capabilities but to posit art and technology as vital agents of this renewal. Drawing inspiration from the regenerative capacities of our environment and society, the festival delves into narratives that explore the possibility of a brighter, more inclusive future. Furthermore, with the evolution of generative AI, we’re reminded that regeneration isn’t always a return to a former state: regeneration can radically redefine.
In an era where the echoes of past upheavals reverberate loudly, “REGENERATE X” emerges as a call for collective reinvention—whether through ecological rejuvenation, an audacious reimagining of aesthetic paradigms in arts and culture, or resilience and resurgence post-COVID.  Learn more about our speakers, jurors, and projects, and panels at filmgate.miami.
