The Next Frontier of Innovation at Big Data Conference

“Big Data” may be the two hottest words in business these days. On September 21, 2016, the University of Miami’s Institute of Data Science and Computing hosted its first BIG DATA Conference, inviting private- and public-sector employees, healthcare providers, policy makers, entrepreneurs, educators and researchers to a panel discussion on the applications of big data in the workplace, and the availability of big data resources in South Florida.

“The ability to analyze data is critical, and business must explore and exchange ideas on big issues that affect the industry,” Anuj Mehrotra, interim dean of UM’s School of Business Administration said to the nearly 200 people in attendance.

Panelists represented DDN Storage, The Miami HEAT Group, Baptist Health South Florida, the UM School of Business Administration, Ryder System, Inc., TROVE Predictive Data Science and Royal Caribbean Cruises, Ltd.

IDSC extends a special thanks to the amazing panelists, volunteers,  and conference participants, and we look forward to next year!  Photos taken by Jenny Abreu . . .
