Applications Invited for Paid UM CARTA PhD Research Assistantships
Applications are invited for three 4-year PhD research assistantships available in the Department of Computer Science. These research assistantships are funded by the University of Miami Center for Accelerated Real-time Analytics (UM CARTA), a prestigious international research center funded by the National Science Foundation’s Industry/University Cooperative Research Centers (I/UCRC) program. CARTA consists of five university sites and approximately two dozen industry/government members, and plays part in the University of Miami’s Institute for Data Science and Computing (IDSC). The CARTA PhD research assistantships will be focused on data analytics research in machine learning and artificial intelligence, image and textual analysis, smart homes, and blockchain applications. The CARTA PhD research assistants will conduct original research with faculty advisors in the Department of Computer Science in conjunction with the Center, publish research papers, and present results at various meetings.
Successful applicants should have a B.S. degree in computer science or a related field with a strong motivation for advancing data science in an industry-government-university collaborative research environment.
Annual Stipend: $33,267* plus a financial assistance package including full-tuition scholarship to cover the cost of course work in the program (currently valued at $39,834 per academic year/18 credits), and renewable annually for up to 5 years, conditional upon satisfactory academic progress.
