Closing out the presentations portion of the inaugural IDSC Day held on Thursday, September 28, Abigail Fleming, Esq., Associate Director of the University of Miami School of Law’s Environmental Justice Clinic (EJC), unveiled the new Displacement Vulnerability and Mitigation Tool (DVMT) created in collaboration with IDSC’s Systems and Data Engineering team.
We are beyond excited to announce that the CCS Data Scholars Summer Data Immersion program has been funded by The Children’s Trust and is launching on July 5, 2017. The proposal was led by our partners at Educate Tomorrow, a nonprofit organization with the mission to provide a path to independence for at-risk, homeless, and foster youth, through education, mentoring, and life-skills programming. CCS hosted Nautilus Middle School, the “Home of the Sharks”, an International Baccalaureate World School located on Miami Beach, in the Viz Lab on Friday, May 20th, for a demonstration of the powers of the 2D and 3D walls. Hosted by Giancarlo Espinoza, one of CCS’s exceptional Advanced Computing Systems Administrators, the forty-plus students appeared to enjoy the presentation and asked lots of questions. The 2nd annual Girl Scouts Tech Camp will be held on Sunday, November 8, 2015, from 2:00 to 5:00 PM. Interest in this event was enormous! We had 61 registrants within 12 hours of the announcement being made on the Girl Scouts event website, with 20 more on a waiting list.
