On Thursday, April 27, 2023, from 3:00-4:30 PM, an audience gathered via Zoom and in person at the Richter Library 3rd floor conference room to hear the 2022-2023 IDSC Fellows give their final research project presentations. A Biomedical Engineering student (Jeffery Serville), Civil Engineering student (Sadegh Tale Masoule), and two Marine Science students (one graduate—Kelly Soluri and one undergraduate—Shara Sookhoo) thanked their mentors, supporters, and collaborating researchers. The Institute for Data Science and Computing (IDSC) was pleased to host the newly chosen 2022-2023 IDSC Fellows as they presented their project proposals on December 14, 2022. Join us in congratulating (in order of presentation) Jeffrey Serville (starts @ 5:22), Kelly Soluri (starts @14:00), Sadegh Tale Masoule (starts @ 39:54), and Shara Sookhoo (starts @ 48:00). IDSC joins with University faculty to mentor IDSC Fellows on how to best utilize University’s cutting-edge advanced computing resources in their proposed research projects. This is a prestigious designation awarded each year to four students, either undergraduate (sophomore level or above) or graduate level.
You are invited to attend the IDSC Fellows Launch Symposium, hear their project proposals, and enjoy light refreshments.

Creative Technologies
What will the future of your field look like? XR applications (virtual, augmented, mixed, and spatial reality) have been continuously evolving, leading to discoveries in several areas. In order to promote XR scholarship and innovation on campus, the 2022-23 XR Award will pair you with a team of XR developers to design and develop or prototype an XR app that will further your teaching, research, or creative scholarship. We are looking for creative, innovative, and promising ideas across a range of disciplines. This award sponsors work that will lead to new research and will help maximize XR’s potential across the arts, business, healthcare, humanities, natural sciences & engineering, and social sciences.
The application to participate in UMXR 2022-23 will require a letter of intent (LOI) that is due on September 23rd, 2022. Funding is available for up to ten applications with a ceiling of $10,000,00 dollars per application.
