The event was organized by Enrico Capobianco, from UMCCS’ Computational Biology & Bioinformatics program, in collaboration with the Universities of Salerno, Perugia, Roma (Cattolica), and was co-sponsored by Roche Pharma Italy. IDSC is excited to host the Machine Learning Meetup Group for a hands-on workshop on extracting information from scientific publication metadata. Join us on Saturday, January 20th, for a deep dive into a subset of the Semantic Scholar dataset: labs.semantic scholar.org/corpus, which represents papers in computer science, neuroscience and biomedical sciences. IDSC is pleased to announce that MathWorks will again be offering two complimentary workshops on Monday February 9th. These sessions are independent of each other and will teach two different sets of skills. You may register for one or both, but please note that the morning session will be hosted in the College of Engineering on the Coral Gables campus, and the afternoon session will be held at the Miller School of Medicine. This presentation was addressed to a specialized audience of people in Data Mining and Machine Learning. The talk provided a theory that showed how clustering stability can be used to choose the correct number of clusters, as well as demonstrate the importance of cluster stability and discussed the use of stability for clustering evaluation. Dr. Qiong Cheng joined the University of Miami’s Center for Computational Science in February 2014. Dr. Cheng graduated from Georgia State University in December 2009 with a PhD in Computer Science. Upon graduating, She spent a little over a year training in CCS and then began work as a researcher with the Department of Computer Science at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign.
