Congratulations to IDSC Deputy Director Ben Kirtman! Dr. Kirtman has been named the new dean at the Rosenstiel School of Marine, Atmospheric, and Earth Science, effective August 1, 2025.

With a little help from The U’s Pegasus supercomputer, two Rosenstiel School scientists have discovered 230 new giant viruses that shape ocean life and health. Their study revealed new insights into giant viruses and their role in marine ecosystems, and led to the creation of a now publicly shared bioinformatic tool.
