TALK TITLE:  Trustworthy Artificial Intelligence: Managing Emerging Risks and Opportunities

Yelena Yesha featured speaker at Hack the Port 22Small trusted networks with access to local data sets can translate key innovations in artificial intelligence into meaningful information, outcomes, and results within well-defined business domains. However, high-impact problem solving using AI techniques requires the participation of diverse parties and access to sensitive data within limited to zero-trust environments. Attempts to develop working relationships in these diverse environments lead to very limited discovery at high risk and stress today’s regulatory and compliance processes to the point of failure. Research must enable the development of acceptable technologies and platforms for federated learning, encrypted computation, and high assurance for effective problem-solving in zero-trust environments.

Promising technology and computing platforms are emerging that will enable data owners to retain full control of sensitive information. Advances in homomorphic encryption, blockchain architecture, and secure multi-party computing are lighting the path to secure federated learning. Combining these techniques with high assurance for the development, evaluation, deployment, and maintenance of AI solutions form the basis for significant advancement in the development of trustworthy artificial intelligence.
