The Future Health of Data Innovation Seminar Series highlights innovative approaches to data, informatics, and technology in healthcare and clinical research. This session “AI and Simulation from Digital Patients to Artificial Societies” will feature Dr. Saikou Diallo.
Saikou Y. Diallo, PhD, is a Program Manager at the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) and an internationally recognized researcher and technology leader with more than two decades of experience in modeling and simulation, artificial intelligence and machine learning, complex systems, and advanced computing. His work focuses on developing analytical and simulation capabilities that support complex decision-making and the transition of emerging technologies into real-world applications. Prior to his current role, Dr. Diallo held senior research leadership positions at Old Dominion University’s Virginia Modeling, Analysis & Simulation Center (VMASC), including Chief Scientist and Director of Research Development.

- Explain how AI extracts signals from clinical, behavioral, operational, social, and sensor data to support risk detection and prediction.
- Diagram how digital patients, artificial societies, and artificial twins support counterfactual experimentation before real-world implementation.
- Evaluate how human simulation improves policy, workforce, training, and operational decisions by representing behavior, trust, incentives, and networks.
