The COMPASS (Combined OCE MPO ATM) Seminar Series presents a lecture by Michael Fischer, PhD. Dr. Fischer is a joint appointment between the Department of Atmospheric Sciences at the Rosenstiel School of Marine Atmospheric, and Earth Science as an Assistant Professor, and as a Core Faculty Member under the Frost Institute for Data Science and Computing’s Earth Systems Science research focus area.
Dr. Fischer’s work utilizes a combination of satellite and aircraft observations, reanalysis products, numerical modeling, and machine-learning techniques. His research seeks to better understand tropical cyclone structure and intensity change, while also creating novel, data-driven tools to improve tropical cyclone forecasts.
