Dr. Wanli Xing is the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation Chair in Artificial Intelligence, and an AI and Machine Learning Core Faculty Member at IDSC. He is also a full-time Professor in the Department of Teaching and Learning at the School of Education and Human Development.

►U.S. Dept. of Education IES Project

The U.S. Department of Education has funded Dr. Xing’s Institute of Education Sciences (IES) proposal. As P.I., Dr. Xing was awarded just over $4 million, $3.75M from IES plus a $375K contribution from Carnegie Learning, Inc. The collaborative project utilizes Carnegie Learning’s established educational platforms to study the practical deployment of AI as a learning buddy.

►NSF Enhanced Learning Project

Dr. Xing’s proposal Sensible AI: Integrating Multimodal AI and Mixed Reality for Context-Aware Real-Time Laboratory Learning in Microelectronics was just awarded $899,992 through a National Science Foundation’s (NSF) Research on Innovative Technologies for Enhanced Learning (RITEL) Solicitation. On this project, Dr. Xing serves as a Co-PI (UM PI) with distinguished fellow scholars Drs. Hyo Kang, Navid Asadi, and Jinnie Shin, of the University of Florida.
