2022-2023 IDSC Fellows Launch Symposium 12/14

The Institute for Data Science and Computing (IDSC) is pleased to announce the 2022-2023 IDSC Fellows have been chosen. Join us in congratulating (clockwise from top left): Sadegh Tale Masoule, Kelly Soluri, Jeffrey Serville, and Shara Sookhoo.

IDSC joins with University faculty to mentor IDSC Fellows on how to best utilize University’s cutting-edge advanced computing resources in their proposed research projects. This is a prestigious designation awarded each year to four students, either undergraduate (sophomore level or above) or graduate level.

You are invited to attend the IDSC Fellows Launch Symposium, hear their project proposals, and enjoy light refreshments.

NIH Grant to FAU, Caridad Center, and UM MSOM…

Researchers from Florida Atlantic University’s Schmidt College of Medicine, in collaboration with the Caridad Health Center, Inc., and the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, have received a $500,000 grant from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) for a project to tackle chronic health disparities through the use of electronic health records (EHR), artificial intelligence, machine learning (AI/ML) and the Internet of Things (IoT). Expanding with the pace of innovations in health care, the IDSC Digital Health and Life Sciences Informatics program encompasses research in Digital Drug Discovery, Population Health Informatics, and Social and Behavioral Data Science. IDSC is pleased to announce the appointment of Stephan Schürer, Azizi Seixas, and Daniel Messinger as Program Directors, respectively, for these initiatives. Digital Twin Accelerates the Future of Personalized Wellness

University of Miami Miller School of Medicine researchers have announced a research project designed to create an individual’s “digital twin” using health and environmental data collected from in-home and on-body sensors. Once created, health care practitioners could apply artificial intelligence (AI) to an individual’s digital twin to virtually test and evaluate various treatment options and potential outcomes before applying them in the physical world.
